Courses for Curiosity

Intro to World Art

Spring 2016

An introduction to art from around the world, including paintings, sculptural works, architectural sites, as well as ritual practices, performance, devotional objects, cultural artifacts, religious sites, memorials, and other diverse forms of creative expression. The course covered an immense period of human history and required students to become familiar with the cultural, political, and historical role that an art object played in its original context.

Honors Social Perception & Cognition

Fall 2018

A systematic review of research and points of view in regard to major problems in the field of social cognition. The course covered major theories in the field and the empirical evidence in support of them. Students were challenged to understand the theories, to recognize their scholarly significance, to infer their implications, and to think critically about them.

Honors Invention:

Where Do Good Ideas Come From?Spring 2020

A course asking how should we understand creativity, imagination, and invention? This course examined creativity in a variety of contexts, both scientific and artistic. It drew on the best work in a number of disciplines, principally rhetoric but also philosophy of science, literary theory, economics, and intellectual history. Students developed projects on case studies of their choosing. Read my paper here.

A Life of Learning

I strongly believe in learning throughout life. Learning doesn't just take place in a classroom at a school, it is always happening, even if we don't recognize it. I make it a point to read, listen, and watch content that teaches me about this world and the people in it.

Below are a few of my favorite podcasts and blogs I subscribe to for the sake of being curious about the world.
